Forensic science plays a vital role in adapting medical principles and scientific procedures with the analysis of unnatural death. Artifacts at the Songkran Niyomsane Forensic Medicine Museum were mainly compiled by Prof. Dr. Songkran Niyomsane, the pioneer of forensic medicine and former Head of Department of Forensic Medicine, after completion of criminal cases for the formation of this museum.

Previously, the museum was situated on the Ground Floor of Old Forensic Medicine Building, but relocated to the current location in 1991.

The museum is divided into 2 zones as follows:

Zone 1 Glass cabinets display skeletons and organs of the deceased with unnatural deaths, side by side with pieces of bones damaged by sharp weapons and solids which were used to commit crimes. Further, there are tangible evidences from different criminal cases, ranging from murder, suicide to accident, such as shackles, rope, wire, etc. Highlights include the corpse of a notorious serial killer who slaughtered children and ate their heart and liver and the corpses of other murderers. In addition, there are various types of snakes preserved in bottles, such as cobra, king cobra, Banded krait, Malayan pit viper, Green pit viper, etc. Skulls that were shot in different ways, both near and far proximity, to analyse the cause of death of King Ananda Mahidol were also displayed. There is also a cabinet displaying the tools used in the postmortem examination of King Ananda Mahidol. Additionally, there are organs of those who were killed by poison, diseases and accidents.

Zone 2 The simulation of significant incident, i.e. Tsunami which occurred on 26 December 2004, that Siriraj Hospital had provided aid and medical assistance.
