Ready your space suits and prepare to explore the vast expanse of space at the Space Inspirium space innovation park. Space Inspirium will make you feel like Buzz Lightyear, the space-faring robot from the animated film Toy Story because his catchphrase ”To Infinity and beyond!” will resonate with every visitor exploring Space Inspirium.
Blasting Into Space and The Universe
Space Inspirium is Thailand’s first space museum situated at GISTDA THEOS Control & Receiving Station (Sri Racha). It is established by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA). It invites the public to explore and learn about the wonders of space through 26 zones, each taking you on an incredible journey to uncover the answers of the universe. Some of the highlighted zones are:
UNIVERSE ZONE - The exhibition explains the origin of the earth and who we are.
HISTORICAL TECHNOLOGY OF SPACE ZONE - The exhibition poses questions about why our planet is the only planet that can sustain life among an immeasurable number of planets and solar systems.
LIFE BEGINS IN SPACE ZONE: The exhibition chronicles the breakthrough innovations and inventions that led to today’s exploration of space.
Experience The Marvels of Space
SPACE EXPLORATION ZONE: Before blasting into space, what factors should be considered? Body conditioning and gravity are important factors to consider. Gyroscopes are used to simulate the effects of gravity resistance that astronauts experience when they are outside of the Earth's atmosphere. It is important to understand how the body reacts in space. It is truly a highlight on its own.
"MARS WALK” SIMULATOR ZONE: Visitors will get the chance to experience what it is like to walk on the surface of Mars, our neighboring planet where the pull of gravity is a third of that of Earth. This zone is popular among children who line up to experience simulated low-gravity conditions. The zone also has Virtual Reality (VR) headsets showing simulated images of the surface of Mars.
In addition to learning about the marvels of space, Space Inspirium draws interesting parallels and connections relative to our terrestrial existence and daily life. For example, how satellites are related to our daily lives, such as satellite zones, Street View, GPS systems used for traveling, Remote Sensing (RS) for industrial systems, agriculture, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), all of which rely on the functions of satellites.
Another point of interest that is a showstopper is the ROBOTICS CLASSROOM ZONE, a classroom space for junior inventors where they can learn and grasp the fundamentals of robotics through the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum. Children will learn both hardware and mechanical components of robot assembly and software for robot programming, an essential skill for the future of robot assembly and AI creation.
It is recommended to allot around 2-3 hours to fully appreciate the zones at Space Inspirium. Be absorbed and inspired by the exhibitions so that once you reach the exit and look to the sky, the unverese and space are not as distant as we thought.
