Joyful Agriculture

Travel, See and Learn

Have you ever watched a 7D movie?
7D movie is interactive movie that takes the audience into a virtual world; for example, if it's raining in a movie the drizzle will spatter over us or if a scene in a movie is the sea, we can hear the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and smell a moistness of the sea.

If you come here The Golden jubilee Museum of Agriculture Office, Pathum Thani you will have a chance to watch a 7D movie The Magic Box which is uncommon in Thailand. The place has invested in taking the audience to find out the wonder of Thailand’s treasure. “Our mission in building the museum is to disseminate Thai King’ prestige and genius. That His Highness built the country by employing agriculture to create well-being for his people is the key.”

Air Chief Marshal Sanor Panpikul, Director of The Golden jubilee Museum of Agriculture Office tells us about the mission which is not only written on the paper but in the heart of all the staff here.

The King Loves Us
This museum covers around over 300 Rai (1 Rai is equal to 1,600 Square meters), so the tram is the best choice for looking around here. However, bicycle is also for rent for biker.

The highlights are exhibitions in 9 buildings such as Wonderful Genes, Din Don, Forest etc. that are optional upon your interest. However, The King Loves Us Museum is the main building you mustn’t miss. There is a display of a model of The Royal Ploughing Ceremony, agricultural royal ceremony which King Rama 9 revived during his reign after a hiatus since 1936. The second floor focuses on displaying development of Thailand’ s agriculture over the past 5 decades.

The tram takes us further to the very interesting learning station, Sustainable Prosperity in One Rai which opens 4-month agricultural training for those who are interested in agriculture. What makes the place different from others and not easy to imitate is each trainee will receive an area of 1 rai for practical experience and must live here for 4 months to test their willingness whether they can achieve it.

Furthermore, Sustainable Prosperity in One Rai has another learning station such as Sufficiency in One Rai emphasizing on The King’s New Theory Agriculture as well as Agricultural Innovation for Metropolitan which residents living in a tiny space like house or condominium can apply in their real life.

Learning for Real Life
“We want the place to be a learning space with tourism.” The director continued, “And most importantly, you can apply what you have learned in your real life.”

The highlight of the place is that tourists can play and learn from the activities at the same time such as parachute planting, mushroom farming, clay house building and vegetable garden condo etc.

Every weekend of the month, apart from walking around exhibition buildings and learning stations, visitors and tourists can come to visit and shop organic vegetables at Sufficiency Economy Market. The market itself is the tangible result of building a sufficiency economy network which is the market of friendship and exchange learning between groups of people who believe and walk on the same path; namely, the path of sufficiency economy.

“I personally believe that if we develop based on sufficiency economy, the chance of sustainability and prosperity is promising. Here, we drive sufficiency economy philosophy into practice so that the people can apply in their real life. If we could make it, we wouldn’t fail, we can stand on our feet in any situations. This is foundation of sustainable development for all Thai people.”
