Information
The Museum was established as a memorial dedicated to the Australian and Allied Prisoners of War (POWs) who were forced to build the 415-kilometre railway from Thailand to Burma, in order to be the main transportation for supply its Japanese forces during World War II. Most of enslaved POWs are Australian, British, and Dutch, also South-East Asian civilians who were forced to build the Chong Khao Khat (Hellfire Pass) Railway here.

The exhibitions inside the museum are classified into three sections;
1.Display section of Chong Khao Khat History and Information of World War II
2.Movie featuring section, presents guidance for visiting the museum, railway route, and movies involved World War II
3.Natural Walking Trail to the Chong Khao Khat, a part of the death railway, which POWs in WW2 once used hammer & tap cutting through solid rock to be a railway pass. At present, there is still a railway trace left.

*The audio guide devices are free for visitors. However, there is a deposit of 200 baht per device. The optional languages are Thai, English, Japanese, and German, which can be selected for instruction at each point.
Getting There
From Kanchanaburi city, take the main Saeng Chuto Road cross the railway until reach Kaeng Sian intersection. Then turn left to Sai Yok district (Route 323). Continue through Sai Noi waterfall for around 20 km. after pass the Phu Toei School, there is a sign direct to Chong Khao Khat Memorial Museum on the left side.
