"The art of traditional painting with Gi-ok Jeon"

Discover the traditions of Asian Brush painting and learn the contrasts between wash ink brush strokes. An opportunity for hands-on learning directly with Gi-ok, Jeon, and the Korean artist based in Thailand. Create your own traditional ink wash painting and bring your own emotions onto the surface of rice paper.

Through the years of her studies and experience in traditional ink wash painting practising, Gi-ok Jeon brings the new idea together with the various art techniques. Her art presented the idea of identity in a multi-cultures society. Her works represented her state of being, as an artist, mother and the person who moved from Korea to live in Thailand for a long time. Her work is fascinating with the mix of brushstrokes that represent both western and eastern aspects which are mostly seen as the metaphor between a physical body and inner soul.

Learn the skills and techniques of traditional ink wash painting. You’ll be guided step-by-step through experimenting with traditional ink wash paintbrushes on rice paper, the aesthetic through the aspect from ink brushstroke with a typical Chinese painting theme – Flower
* Experiment with different artistic tools and typical traditional styles.
* Basic techniques and strokes in traditional ink wash painting with 5 types of flowers.
* Be guided to create your very own traditional ink wash painting within your style on rice paper - and take it home afterwards.

The workshop will be on April 28th, 9:30-16:00 on the 1st floor, the Sale gallery building, SAC Gallery. Ticket: 1,000 bath/ person(Participants: Maximum for 15 persons.)
