'Wonderscape' From the collection of Surapon Bunyapamai 8 August – 27 September 2020 * The opening reception will be on 8th August 2020 from 13.00 pm and join curator tour at 15.30 pm. Wonderscape is an exhibition that includes five great Thai old masters: Chalood Nimsamer, Sawasdi Tantisuk, Montien Boonma, Angkarn Kalayanapong and Hem Vejakon. The works are derived from the collections of Surapon Bunyapamai who is an infamous and inactive master collector from Thailand. It is an extremely rare occasion that these exquisite and old pieces will be shown for the general public. The Wonderscape is an exhibition where skills are combined with heroic contributions and experiences of the five masterminds. Even though they may have passed away, their creations are still legendary and have become the starting point for the Thai contemporary arts movement.Wonderscape highlights once again the artistic skills of the five masters and how it can be located within Thai art history. It also portrays the lines of intellect which defined the art methodology that was used back then, whether that would be through the infrastructure or the development of Thai contemporary art. The works that are being exhibited in the Wonderscape exhibition reveals their innovative sides and how they pioneered the Thai art movement in composition, ideals, and techniques. The work also establishes their position in Thai art history as the turning point where Thai modern art turns into Thai Contemporary art. The exhibition will be on view from 8th August to 27th September 2020 at Subhashok The Arts Centre. The opening reception will be on 8th August 2020 from 13.00 – 19.00.
